I discovered this website by accident but it was a great mistake! I have studied television history for a long time but NEVER studied television sets themselves. Some of the images here are amazing. They actually sparked an interest in these sets to find out more about them. In fact, the 1930s sets look so strange I was trying to figure out where the screen was!!! LOL. Anyway, check it out. You’ll be glued for hours. http://www.tvhistory.tv/pre-1935.htm

The mid-atlantic nostalgia convention turned out to be a gold mine for us at “Wait, I Know This!”. After cruising the crowd for a while and realizing that most of the stars were absolutely grateful that so many had come to see the stars they grew up with and admired. Then came Miss Patty Duke. I was so awe struck over the fabulous actress and fully expected for her to be “untouchable”. Then I spoke to her and the veil [...]

About 3 and a half decades ago a unique show took us through those wacky days on crusie ships in the 1970s. I mean didn’t everyone find true love on a cruise ship!!? Maybe they hooked up with the crew, hooked up with another passenger or got hooked up with an umbrella drink from “Your friendly bartender”. Of course we are talking about ABC’s smash hit The Love Boat. I remember all too well the Saturday night line-up [...]

If the title doesn’t ring a bell then you are missing out on one of television sitcoms greatest episodes in history. In fact, TV Guide at one time ranked this episode of The Mary Tyler Moore Show as THE BEST episode in television history. It centers around the tv station’s kids show host Chuckles the Clown and his death. From the moment that news director Lou Grant rushes in and tells everyone that Chuckles was in a parade dressed as [...]

It was one of my absolute favorite shows of the 70′s and I have found a treasure of the web dedicated to Jack, Chrissy and Janet. It offers a chance to buy DVD sets, see episode summaries from EVERY episode, and even play a trivia game. I took the challenge and by the way I pride myself on TV trivia. It wasn’t easy. Some you could answer by elimination but since I couldn’t poll the audience or phone a friend [...]

The CBS Evening News has been around, in one form or another, for 63 years. In fact it was 63-years ago THIS WEEK when CBS aired a regular weeknight newscast that was called “The CBS-TV News”. The anchor was Douglas Edwards and the original newscast was a 15-minute program ONLY on Saturday nights! In 1948 it was expanded to weeknights from 7:30 to 7:45pm. Interestingly enough the name has changed several times from the 1950 title “Douglas Edwards with The News” [...]

April 21st, 1965 a pilot for a new game show was shot in black-and-white for CBS and hosted by Bert Parks (Best known for hosting the Miss America pageant). The show wasn’t picked up by CBS but a year later NBC bought the rights and lo and behold a game show legend was born. Hollywood Squares would go on to run for decades. Peter Marshall was the original host when the show ran on NBC from 1966 to 1981. And [...]
