I’VE GOT A SECRET
Long before “circle gets the square” entered the public vernacular, the concept of the panel game show was born. Like sister show What’s My Line?, I’ve Got A Secret pitted average Joes and Janes against a panel of celebrity judges. Contestants would whisper their secret to the show’s host, the audience would learn what it was via text on the screen and then the guessing would commence! The longer the contestant stumped the panelists, the more money they earned. In the 1950’s completely stumping the panel would earn you the princely sum of $80. But really, can one put a price on the witty repartee? Which is exactly what viewers were tuning in for.
